Why Compete for Miss Beloit? Scholarships

Let's face it: scholarships are complicated. You may fill out a thousand forms, write a million essays, and still walk away with nothing for college.

Even with financial aid, you may still end up with a lot of student debt. However, there is a way you can earn money for college without all of the added paperwork: competing for Miss Beloit.

This Miss Beloit and Miss Beloit's Outstanding Teen Scholarship Competition has given away over $100,000 since the 1960s, and we're looking to provide more scholarships than ever in our 2022 competition.

We're here to answer any questions you may have about scholarships before the competition so that you are best prepared to walk away with that prize money.

Everyone Can Walk Away With Scholarships

For many years we have made a model for the competition that allows every candidate to walk away with a cash award- not just the winners.

You've spent the time and energy to give the competition your all, and we believe you're already a winner. To reward you for this, we offer individual scholarships that all candidates are eligible for.

This way, even if you are not a winner or runner-up, you will walk away with scholarships for student debt or higher education.

Scholarships Are Not Just For the Candidates

We're switching it up with our 2022 competition and offering scholarships for the community!

We have a vision to serve our entire community- not just school-age women. We want to offer the opportunity to achieve higher education to everyone in our community: men, women, graduate program students, and more.

With these community scholarships, the winners will be recognized on the night of the competition but will not have to compete. If you have some qualms about competing, or you are not within the eligibility requirements of the Miss America Org., then this option is for you!

You can get in contact with us by filling out our General Interest Form. We will be sending out information about community scholarships soon!

You Don't Have to Spend Money to Make Money

One of the biggest fears we hear from potential candidates is that they don't want to spend the money to make money. And trust us, we get it.

Competing can be a high cost- but it doesn't have to be. There are options that have proven to be successful in the past, and here is a few of them:

1. Borrowing clothing items from formers or fellow competitors

For those who have competed for Miss Beloit before- and even those who have won- they've already put their wardrobes together. If you ask them to borrow any wardrobe pieces that they aren't currently using, that will be a huge saving right there.

It might seem daunting but remember: if you never ask, the answer is always no. And the Miss Beloit Committee is here to help. If you want to reach out but don't know how we can step in.

2. Borrow Clothing From The Miss Beloit Closet

Many of the Miss Beloit Committee have had daughters who are former Miss Beloit's, so they know a thing or two about wardrobe. And as a plus, they've saved some of their competition dresses or have had dresses donated to them by other formers.

That means we have some pre-existing dresses to choose from when it comes to competing. So you can ask any of the Miss Beloit Committee members to browse their dress options and save yourself the cost of a new evening gown or interview dress.

3. Thrifting

Thrift stores have hidden gems that you would never have expected to find, and at half of the cost.

There are many thrift and consignment stores in the Beloit Area, including Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Chic & Unique. You can find less expensive dress options for evening gowns and interviews at any of these locations!
